A multisymplectic pseudospectral method for seismic modeling
نویسنده
چکیده
Seismic modeling is a foundation of geophysical date processing. A multisymplectic pseudospectral method for seismic modeling is presented in this paper. This method takes the multisymplectic structure of the scalar wave equation into account and possesses discrete multisymplectic conservation laws. Numerical experiments demonstrate the remarkable capability of this new method for long-time simulations. 2006 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

An Algorithm for Modeling and Interpretation of Seismoelectric Data
Generally speaking, seismoelectric modeling is a prospecting method based on seismic and electromagnetic waves, in which waves generated by a seismic source at the boundary of the two environments generate a relative fluid-solid motion formed as a result of antagonism between the elastic properties of the environment with the saturated fluid. This research has as its objective, a study of the e...
متن کاملThe pseudospectral method: Comparisons with finite differences for the elastic wave equation
The pseudospectral (or Fourier) method has been used recently by several investigators for forward seismic modeling. The method is introduced here in two different ways: as a limit of finite differences of increasing orders, and by trigonometric interpolation. An argument based on spectral analysis of a model equation shows that the pseudospectral method (for the accuracies and integration time...
متن کاملMulti-symplectic Fourier Pseudospectral Method for a Higher Order Wave Equation of Kdv Type
The higher order wave equation of KdV type, which describes many important physical phenomena, has been investigated widely in last several decades. In this work, multisymplectic formulations for the higher order wave equation of KdV type are presented, and the local conservation laws are shown to correspond to certain well-known Hamiltonian functionals. The multi-symplectic discretization of e...
متن کاملScalar Seismic-Wave Equation Modeling by a Multisymplectic Discrete Singular Convolution Differentiator Method
High-precision modeling of seismic-wave propagation in heterogeneous media is very important to seismological investigation. However, such modeling is one of the difficult problems in the seismological research fields. For developingmethods of seismic inversion and high-resolution seismic-wave imaging, the modeling problem must be solved as perfectly as possible. Moreover, for long-term computa...
متن کاملComputational poroelasticity – A review
Computational physics has become an essential research and interpretation tool in many fields. Particularly, in reservoir geophysics, ultrasonic and seismic modeling in porous media is used to study the properties of rocks and characterize the seismic response of geological formations. Here, we give a brief overview of the most common numerical methods used to solve the partial differential equ...
